Acer has announced the first tablet to run Chrome OS “the Acer Chromebook Tab 10” a day before Apple’s new low-cost model iPad announcement. Chrome OS has run on laptops, desktops, convertibles, and all-in-ones, but until today, it hasn’t run on a tablet.
The Chromebook Tab 10 has an OP1 processor with very exciting features like 9.7-inch ( 2048 x 1536 pixel resolution) display — just like the iPad — with front- and rear-facing cameras, an estimated nine hours of battery life, 4GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, and a USB-C port. There’s also a microSD card slot and a headphone jack.
Not only that, Tab 10 also has stylus support; like Samsung’s Galaxy Note series. The Tab 10 even has a small stylus built right in it. It’s a Wacom-branded stylus, and it doesn’t require a battery or any additional charging.
Both the company are trying to compete Apple’s Ipad with an education-focused tablet of their own to support Chrome OS in a market it’s already leading.
The price of the tablet will be $329, which is the same price as Apple’s current entry-level iPad. Apple’s is expected to release an iPad tomorrow that costs $ 259. The device won’t have stylus builtin so, If you need a stylus, Apple currently sells that separately with extra charge $ 99. It also has to be charged and stored separately.
The Tablet has some advantages though it may be more expensive, having an integrated, non-powered stylus will make it easier to use and store. It offers more options than an iPad that comes without one.The Tab 10 will also be able to run Android apps. The tablet will be on sale in North America next month and will be available worldwide from May.
